This lamak drawing has a frame of little squares, called bungbung jangkrik, 'cricket cage'. The motif at the top end is called a kekayonan or tree (kayu means wood), motif that occurs very often on lamak. The style of this particular tree is that of Tegallalang, north of Ubud, where Walter Spies lived. The motifs on the drawings seem to be derived mostly from designs in this area.
