10 amHomemade Standing Pee Trousers
Workshop by the Kunst VHS – Who’s Wearing the Pants?
Peeing standing up can sometimes be a dangerous challenge for FLINTA* people. In a first step, we will use drawings to explore individual and collective ideas of standing pee trousers and their everyday horror and potential. Materials and shapes will be tested together and combined with the trousers we have brought with us. Finally, we will test the suitability for everyday use of the pee trousers we have made in a joint action.
Course instructor: Veronika Hösch studied Performative Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 2008–2013. She has also completed a Technical College (HTL) for Fashion and Clothing Technology and has years of practical experience in sewing inflatable castles and performance costumes.
After the workshop, there will be an opportunity to visit the exhibition Who’s Wearing the Pants? accompanied by a cultural mediator from the museum. Whether precisely pressed or in a casual baggy look – they are a global phenomenon and seemingly familiar to us all. They are a symbol of cultural and social identity and the material for fashion statements: trousers.
From 25 March 2025, the Weltmuseum Wien will be taking a journey through 3,000 years of trouser history from all over the world in its new special exhibition Who’s Wearing the Pants? Treasures and many a quirky find from all the collections of the Weltmuseum Wien, the Theatermuseum, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien and objects on loan from Austrian museums and international collections will be on display.
