Parking
Parking spaces for persons with reduced mobility are located in the short-stay parking area on Heldenplatz square in front of the equestrian monument to Prince Eugene and at the side entrance to the Kunsthistorisches Museum on Burgring.
Arriving by public transport
U3 metro line: “Volkstheater” stop (“Ring” exit)
Detailed directions
Get off at the “Volkstheater” stop. Arriving by train bound for Ottakring: Leave the carriage and head left, against the direction of travel. Arriving by train bound for Simmering: Leave the carriage and head right, against the direction of travel. Go towards the “Ring” exit. The tactile guidance system will lead you on the right to the escalator and on the left to the lift.
Take the lift at the end of the tunnel that leads towards “Ring”. Stop at the level marked with the “Ausgang” (Exit) symbol.
Leave the lift and go straight ahead towards the “Volksgarten” exit. To the left of the staircase and escalator you will find another lift labelled “Volksgarten”.
Take this lift to the “Ausgang” (Exit) level.
Leave the lift and go straight ahead for a few metres and then turn right. You are heading in the opposite direction to that of the cars on the Ring road.
Cross the green cycle path to reach the pedestrian walkway that runs along the wall next to the Volksgarten park and Heldenplatz square. Continue on the walkway along Burgring until you reach the entrance to the Burgtor, the gateway to the palace complex.
At the entrance to the Burgtor, there is a set of traffic lights. Cross the road straight ahead, along Burgring. Do not cross the Ring road! Continue straight ahead for about 50 metres. There you will find an open gate on your left.
Go through the gate. On your right is the entrance to the Weltmuseum Wien.
The Neue Hofburg building can be accessed via the two carriage driveways on the left and right. The main entrance to the museum can be reached without climbing any steps by using a platform lift. Two heavy doors have to be opened to enter the ticketing area. The Guest Service will be happy to help you.

Get off at the “Burgring” stop. You are on the correct side of the Ring road and will not have to cross any roads. Go straight ahead to the wall that runs along the Burggarten palace garden. To reach the pedestrian walkway you must cross the cycle path marked in green.
When you are in front of the Burggarten wall, turn left and head along Burgring.
Keep going along Burgring for roughly 120 metres towards Heldenplatz square. On your right will be an open gate to Heldenplatz square. Go through the gate. On your right is the entrance to the Weltmuseum Wien.

Get off at the “Burgring” stop. You now have to cross the Ring road. After getting off the tram, turn left and head to the intersection. At the intersection, a traffic light system will guide you across the Ring road.
On the other side of the road, cross a cycle path marked in green to reach the pedestrian walkway. This runs along the wall next to the Burggarten palace garden and the Neue Burg wing of the palace.
When you are in front of the Burggarten wall, turn left and head along Burgring.
Keep going along Burgring for roughly 100 metres towards Heldenplatz square. On your right will be an open gate to Heldenplatz square. Go through the gate. On your right is the entrance to the Weltmuseum Wien.

Get off at the “Ring, Volkstheater” stop. Leave the bus or tram and head right, against the direction of travel. On the right of the escalator is a lift. Take the lift to the “U” level.
Leave the lift and go straight ahead towards the “Volksgarten” exit. To the left of the staircase and escalator you will find another lift labelled “Volksgarten”. Take this lift to the “Ausgang” (Exit) level.

Inclusive access to the Neue Hofburg building
The Neue Hofburg building can be accessed via the two carriage driveways on the left and right. The main entrance to the museum can be reached without climbing any steps by using a platform lift. The special exhibition areas on the ground floor can be reached without climbing any steps by using a lift. The same applies to the exhibition spaces on the mezzanine floor and first floor. The lift has Braille and has the following dimensions: 89 cm door, 142 cm cabin depth, 162 cm cabin width.
Physical obstacles present in the building
The Neue Hofburg is a historic building, so a few obstacles must be expected when visiting it.
There is no tactile guidance system in the Neue Hofburg building.
The entrance doors to the permanent collection area on the mezzanine floor and first floor are heavy and have to be opened manually. Inside the exhibitions, there are glass vestibule doors for climatic reasons that also have to be opened by hand.
The special exhibitions on the ground floor are inclusively accessible through the hall of columns via the passageway located in the cook café & bistro. Here too, however, there are glass vestibule doors that have to be opened manually.
Unfortunately, the Imperial Shop cannot easily be accessed independently. Please contact the Guest Service in the ticket office or at the ticket inspection point in the hall of columns. Someone will accompany you to the Imperial Shop.
